Art Sales, fundraisers, and auctions

Over the last two and half weeks (October 29 – November 15), Murray State University Department of Art + Design hosted their annual art auction.  Due to ongoing pandemic, this year’s auction was held virtually via https://www.32auctions.com/MurrayStateArtAuction.

The annual art auction helps raise money to fund scholarships to art students, and is fueled by the donations of the MSU Art faculty, staff, students and alumni.

I would not be where I am professionally and as an artist without this department and I’m happy to donate works to help support my alma mater. The pandemic has affected a lot of the studio practices of many artists and I am no exception. I’ve had a lot of shows, but making new art work hasn’t been a top priority.

My time has been focused on binding blank journals and sketchbooks for the most part. Luckily I had to older pieces framed already that I felt would be great for the auction.

Happy to report these did receive bids and were sold! Thank you bidders!

Additionally, I was asked by John Donovan, co-founder of Buchanan Arts, a new arts community center in West Nashville, to participate in their first Art Sale & Holiday Fundraiser on November 19-20, 2021.  I believer John requests some handmade books, and I, of course, immediate told him, “How about 20?”

So for the better part of the last two months, I was binding books in my studio to meet my personally set goal of 20 coptic bounds journals and sketchbooks. If you’re in town this weekend, stop by to see what’s for sale!

As a sneak peek, here are the books I’ll have available during the event!
